The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food of the Government of Aragón is celebrating the first Agro-Food Awards of Aragón this afternoon, an initiative aimed at being a permanent fixture to highlight, recognize, and value the agro-food sector of the Community. The ceremony will take place starting at 6:30 PM at the Palacio de La Alfranca (Pastriz).
The awards are part of the Agro-Food Plan of Aragón 2025-2028, a strategic roadmap to strengthen competitiveness, boost domestic and international trade, and consolidate the prestige of Aragón’s food products. The chosen date, September 9, World Agriculture Day, reinforces the symbolism of this first edition.
Awardees and Categories
Entrepreneurship and Innovation Award: Vidrio Fruits
A family-owned company based in Ricla (Zaragoza), an international benchmark in the cherry sector and a pioneer in cold treatments and new packaging technologies that have helped to open demanding markets such as China and Vietnam.
Content Creation and Dissemination Award: Enjoy Zaragoza
A digital media outlet specializing in lifestyle and gastronomy, with hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, essential in promoting the brand Alimentos de Aragón. Enjoy Zaragoza has brought this sector closer to new audiences through a language tailored to various demographics.
Agricultural Research Award: Fertinagro Biotech
An Aragonese company recognized internationally in biotechnology and plant nutrition, which has made significant investments in R&D, holds 172 international patents, and collaborates with over 120 universities and research centers worldwide.
Artisanal Food Company Award: M de Molina
A family workshop with over 70 years of history in the Bajo Aragón-Caspe region, specialized in pickles, exemplifying how artisanal food preserves identity and territory.
Ecological and Sustainable Initiative Award: Cervezas Ámbar
A company that has represented Aragón nationwide since its founding in 1900, it has incorporated sustainability into its corporate DNA, notably through the installation of a biogas gasometer to reduce its carbon footprint.
Special Sector Award: Grupo Costa
For nearly six decades, it has been one of the most important agro-food groups in Spain. Grupo Costa represents economic strength and well-being in the entire Community. Among its recent plans, it leads the CLAVE Project, with an investment of nearly 900 million euros and the anticipated creation of 5,300 jobs in Aragón.
Objectives and Future Projections
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food, Javier Rincón, emphasized that «these awards recognize the efforts of farmers, ranchers, cooperatives, and companies that, through their innovation and commitment, have placed Aragón on the international agro-food map.» The Government of Aragón aims for the Agro-Food Awards to become an annual benchmark that highlights the talent, innovation, and sustainability of the sector, which is an economic and social driver of the Community.
