Aragon’s Agricultural Income Rises 10.89% to €2.855 Billion

Aragón’s agricultural income reached €2.85536 billion in 2025, up 10.89% from the previous year and above the national growth rate. The improvement was supported by gains in crop and livestock production, although profitability and uneven performance across sectors continue to shape the outlook for Aragón’s agricultural industry.

Aragón’s agricultural income rises to €2.855 billion in 2025

Preliminary figures from Macromagnitudes del Sector Agrario Aragonés 2025 put Final Agricultural Production at €6.78676 billion, compared with €6.24845 billion in 2024. The increase of 8.62% was driven by the crop subsector, which grew 10.37%, and livestock production, which rose 7.78%.

Intermediate consumption totaled €4.0322 billion, up 6.16% from the previous year. As it grew more slowly than Final Agricultural Production, it contributed to an increase in Gross Value Added, which rose 12.41% in Aragón, compared with 9.73% for Spain as a whole.

Aragón also outperformed the national average in agricultural income, posting growth of 10.89% versus 8.86%, and in Final Agricultural Production, rising 8.62% compared with 7.51% nationwide. The regional minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Food, Arancha Simón, cautioned, however, that not all sectors have followed the same path and that profitability remains among the main challenges.

Huesca accounts for nearly half of agricultural production as pork retains its leading position

Huesca leads the region’s agricultural economy with €3.3591 billion in Final Agricultural Production, or 49.5% of the total. Zaragoza contributes €2.4405 billion, or 36%, while Teruel reaches €987.1 million, or 14.6%.

In agricultural income, Huesca accounts for 48.13% of Aragón’s total, Zaragoza for 30.30%, and Teruel for 21.57%. The report identifies Teruel as the province with the strongest relative growth in 2025, driven by activities including olive growing, truffle production and livestock farming.

Livestock generated about 68% of Final Agricultural Production, compared with nearly 29% for agriculture. Pork remained the sector’s main economic activity, generating more than €2.569 billion and accounting for about 38% of all regional final production; beef cattle increased in value to €1.012 billion, up 66.7%.

Cereals and woody crops drive agricultural recovery despite erratic weather

Final Crop Production rose from €1.79936 billion in 2024 to €1.98589 billion in 2025. Growth was linked to a recovery in output of cereals, forage crops, olives, almonds and other woody crops.

Cereals were one of the main drivers of growth. Production reached 3.98 million metric tons, up 31.8% from 2024, while their value increased 23.3%, despite a 6.4% decline in average prices.

The 2024-2025 agricultural year was marked by erratic weather, including storms, hail, torrential rain and phenomena associated with DANA, the Spanish term for isolated high-altitude depressions, which caused uneven and scattered damage. The assessment also reflects the impact of prices, costs and health risks on farms, in a context where agricultural insurance, modernization, water-use efficiency, and animal and plant health remain key tools for stability in the sector.
