The Government of Aragon has taken a decisive step towards expanding the CPI Ana María Navales in Zaragoza by putting out to tender the project for a new building dedicated to Compulsory Secondary Education. This initiative involves an investment of €8.9 million and aims to complete the development of the educational center in the Arcosur neighborhood.
Tendering, investment, and project scope
The Department of Education, Science, and Universities of the Government of Aragon has initiated the bidding process for the drafting of the project and the construction supervision for the new secondary school building at CPI Ana María Navales. This project, which includes the creation of 12 secondary school units, represents a total investment of €8.9 million. The contract, with a base budget of €232,445.77, has been published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform and covers both the drafting of the basic and execution project and the technical supervision of the work.
Current status of the center and background of the works
Since its establishment in 2019, the CPI Ana María Navales has been continuously developing. Currently, the center has buildings for preschool and primary education, as well as complementary services such as a cafeteria, gymnasium, library, and multipurpose room. The second phase of primary education, executed by the company Mariano López Navarro, will be put into service for the upcoming academic year. Previously, the Department of Education had to terminate the contract with the former contractor, Levantina, Ingeniería y Construcción S.L., due to delays and deficiencies in the construction work, which necessitated a new urgent tender.
Student projections, timeline, and bid submission deadlines
The new secondary school building is projected to accommodate the anticipated growth in student enrollment over the coming years. It is estimated that for the 2029-2030 school year, there will be three groups in 1st year of secondary education. The project timeline foresees the commencement of construction in the second quarter of 2027 and its completion in the third quarter of 2028, with an execution period of 18 months. Interested companies have until June 10 to submit their bids for the tender.
Through this initiative, the Department of Education is progressing towards consolidating CPI Ana María Navales as an integrated center, ready to serve all mandatory education stages and support the growing student population in this expanding neighborhood of Zaragoza.
