Aragón to Introduce Concerted Baccalaureate Program for 1,900 Students in 2026-2027

The Department of Education of Aragón has announced an ambitious plan to implement the concerted Baccalaureate starting from the 2026-2027 academic year. This measure will allow families to access quality education with a limited financial contribution, marking a significant step towards the democratization of educational access in the region.

Implementation and Scope of the Concerted Baccalaureate

The rollout of the concerted Baccalaureate will initially begin in the first year and will gradually extend throughout the entire stage. It is estimated that around 1,900 students will benefit from this initiative in the 2026-2027 academic year, distributed across approximately 65 educational units in nearly 20 centers. The order enabling this concertation was published in the Official Bulletin of Aragón, marking a milestone in the educational policy of the community.

Financial Contribution and Benefits for Families

Families in Aragón will be required to make a financial contribution ranging from 18 to 36 euros per month, a significantly lower amount compared to the approximately 400 euros per month that private education costs. This funding model aims to complement public contributions under the singular concert regime, in accordance with the Organic Law of Education, ensuring that economic criteria do not become an obstacle to accessing quality education.

Objectives and Application Procedure

The primary objective of the concertation of the Baccalaureate is to guarantee the freedom of teaching recognized in Article 27 of the Spanish Constitution. This measure facilitates families’ ability to freely choose the type of education for their children, ensuring educational continuity in concerted centers from earlier stages. For interested centers, a period of 10 days was opened to apply for concertation, allowing those who had already submitted their application in November to maintain their processing. The final resolution was expected by May 2026, limited to centers that already operate under the concert regime.
