The Aragon Institute of Technology (ITA) and Monzón City Council will establish a technology and industrial innovation laboratory in the city to accelerate technology adoption among businesses in the Cinca Medio region. The new hub, part of the Monzón Digital strategy, will combine training, advisory services, and support for R&D&I projects.
Monzón to host technology laboratory to drive industry
ITA Director Esther Borao and Monzón Mayor Isaac Claver signed the agreement launching the partnership on Friday. The agreement provides for the establishment of a technology and industrial innovation laboratory serving companies in Monzón and the surrounding area.
The project will have a physical base at the Monzón Digital building, where ITA will maintain a permanent contact point. It will also include a virtual collaboration space to facilitate engagement with participating companies.
The agreement sets out four areas of work: promoting innovation activities for companies and business associations; advancing R&D&I projects that strengthen competitiveness; developing valuable technology infrastructure for the industrial sector; and supporting technology-based industrial entrepreneurship.
Training, artificial intelligence and assessments for Cinca Medio companies
The laboratory will develop tailored training programs in digitalization, Industry 4.0, sustainability, and energy efficiency. Its activities will also include sector-specific technology forums and hands-on workshops featuring demonstrations of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, IoT, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.
Companies will be able to access personalized technology assessments using the methodology of the Activa Industria 4.0 program. The service will also provide guidance on applying for public funding for R&D&I projects, along with a support program for technology entrepreneurship.
New technology infrastructure that could complement ITA’s existing laboratories will also be assessed, with the aim of expanding the capabilities available to industry in Monzón and its surrounding area.
ITA to bring its innovation programs to Monzón
The Aragon Institute of Technology will make its Bonos Tecnológicos, Innoidea, InnoSTEP, and TBI Aragón programs available to companies, in addition to services linked to the Aragon EDIH.
Projects may be fully funded through ITA or financed through co-funding arrangements with participating companies. The initiative aims to bring training resources, technology assessments, and support for developing innovation projects closer to businesses in Monzón, the Cinca Medio region, and the surrounding area.
