The Spanish Navy has launched the procurement of six multispectral suits for the Naval Special Warfare Force (FGNE), with an estimated budget of €28,277.70, including taxes. The tender, managed by the Cartagena Quartermaster’s Office, calls for four sets in size S/M and two in size L/XL.
The Technical Specifications identify the equipment as Sniper Set – Jacket+ Pants. The designation points to use by personnel engaged in observation and precision tasks, although the document does not state that all six sets will be assigned to FGNE snipers.
The suits are intended to reduce operators’ thermal signature against thermal cameras and, through their camouflage pattern, also make visual detection more difficult. The FGNE is the Spanish Navy’s core unit for Naval Special Warfare capabilities and primarily takes part in special operations in maritime and maritime-land environments.
Multispectral coverage and four camouflage patterns
The specifications cover the visible spectrum, between 380 and 750 nanometers; near-infrared, from 750 to 1,400 nm; short-wave infrared, from 1,400 to 3,000 nm; mid-wave infrared, from 3,000 to 8,000 nm; long-wave infrared, from 8,000 to 15,000 nm; and far-infrared, up to 1,000,000 nm. For radio waves, attenuation of up to 70 decibels is required at frequencies of up to 20 GHz.
The material must consist of 99-100% polyamide with copper, tin, and carbon, and weigh between 120 and 180 grams per square meter. The required operating range is from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius. The specifications include four camouflage patterns: woodland, urban, snow, and desert.
Compatibility with helmets and night vision
The jacket will have an ergonomic cut, with a shortened front panel and an extended back. Its hood will incorporate an internal adjustment system for use with a combat helmet and an eye opening compatible with night-vision goggles. It will also include HT4 mesh designed to reduce visibility and thermal signature.
The retention system will feature a quick-release chest closure, waist adjustment, two adjustable leg straps, and a pair of HT4 gloves. The pants will have 3D camouflage material on the rear, a front zip fly, and two full-length side zippers.
The supply must be delivered to the Cartagena Naval Arsenal between contract formalization and December 15, 2026. The equipment will carry a three-year warranty. Interested companies must submit product samples and provide an informational brochure for users.
