On September 27th, Huesca will become a key stage for innovation in early childhood education with the celebration of the Summit Early Childhood Education 0-6: innovation, emotion, and creativity to transform learning. Organized by the Government of Aragon and the Huesca City Council under the slogan «Very Important Peques,» this congress will bring together educators, researchers, and sector experts at the city’s Congress Palace with the aim of providing tools, methodologies, and practical experiences that can be directly applied in the classroom, enhancing creativity, autonomy, and the holistic development of children from their earliest years.
Early childhood is a decisive period in which the foundations of critical thinking, empathy, creativity, and the ability to learn how to learn are established. Recognizing the importance of these years implies rethinking education beyond academic content, embracing approaches that integrate emotion, play, exploration, and collaboration. The Summit arises from this premise and presents itself as a space for training, reflection, and inspiration for early childhood education professionals.
Mar Romera: Emotion as a Driver of Learning
Among the speakers who will headline the event is Mar Romera, one of the leading experts in emotional pedagogy in Spain. Her career combines research, teacher training, and practical classroom experience, focusing on demonstrating how emotions directly influence children’s learning capacity. In her presentation, titled «Emotional and Exciting Education,» Romera will address how educators can integrate emotions into daily practice, favoring both cognitive and social-emotional development of students.
Through concrete examples and applicable classroom activities, she will show how small everyday actions, such as observing and attending to children’s emotions, can transform classroom dynamics and improve motivation, attention, and cooperation among students. Furthermore, Romera suggests that teachers develop their own emotional competencies, learning to manage their emotions and create learning environments where children feel understood and supported.
Albert Espinosa: Creativity, Dreams, and Motivation in the Classroom
The day’s closing will be led by Albert Espinosa, a writer, screenwriter, and speaker, whose presence adds a motivational and reflective component to the congress. Espinosa has developed a unique style based on personal narratives and the transmission of values such as resilience, creativity, and self-trust. His presentation «If You Believe in Dreams, They Will Come True» invites educators to reflect on the importance of supporting children in building their own learning, fostering autonomy, imagination, and the capacity to face challenges with confidence.
With his approachable style filled with stories and real-life examples, Espinosa will demonstrate how educators can inspire their students by incorporating creativity and play into learning, creating an environment where children feel free to explore, make mistakes, and learn.
A Program Full of Practical Experiences
The Summit program combines talks, debates, and practical workshops designed to offer attendees experiences they can translate into their daily routines. Among the topics to be addressed are the introduction of literacy in the early years, always respecting each child’s pace; the use of manipulative resources to teach mathematics in an active and participatory manner; and attention to diversity, showcasing strategies to ensure all children, regardless of their abilities or needs, can fully participate in the educational process.
Music and Inclusion to Transform the Classroom
Additionally, attendees will be able to participate in experiential workshops, such as the one led by María José Sánchez, which will explore how music can become a powerful pedagogical resource for developing creativity, memory, and cooperation among the youngest learners. The day will also include an inclusive concert by CEIP El Parque, demonstrating how music and the arts can promote inclusion, empathy, and collaboration among students.
The Summit Early Childhood Education 0-6 represents an opportunity for professionals to renew their educational practices, expand their vision of children’s learning, and share experiences with colleagues from across the country. The day combines theory, reflection, and practice, offering concrete strategies that can be applied in the classroom immediately, as well as innovative ideas for transforming teaching and creating more dynamic, inclusive, and enriching educational spaces.
