The Provincial Council of Zaragoza (DPZ) has launched Vive el Mar de Aragón, an initiative that will allow 480 people to participate for free in boat tours of the Mequinenza reservoir. The program will take place on July 12 and August 1, 2, 8, and 9 in collaboration with the City Hall of Caspe.
The proposal includes two activity modalities: motorboat rides and big paddle outings, scheduled in two daily shifts. Reservations can be made via WhatsApp.
According to Provincial Deputy Abraham Martínez, the initiative aims to highlight the natural heritage of the region and contribute to the local economy through tourism activities. Caspe’s mayor, Ana Jarque, emphasized the interest in bringing this environment closer to residents and visitors. Eduardo Catalán, manager of Río Caspe Aventura, mentioned that the activities combine an interpretative tour of the reservoir with an introduction to aquatic sports.
The boat tours will cover approximately 30 kilometers through representative sites of the Mar de Aragón, including the hermitage of Magdalena, an ancient San Juanist enclave. The big paddle activity will take place near the Nautical Club Mar de Aragón, with introductions to the modality and water sports.
The Mar de Aragón corresponds to the Mequinenza reservoir, transforming the landscape and the economic activity of the area and establishing itself as a destination for navigation and active tourism. The DPZ seeks to bring heritage closer to the public through an educational proposal that combines landscape interpretation with aquatic activities.
