Tess Defence delivered the 100th 8×8 Dragón armored vehicle to the Ministry of Defense at a ceremony held on September 29, 2026, at its plant in Alcalá de Guadaíra, Seville. The company is led by Indra and includes GDELS-Santa Bárbara, Sapa and EM&E as partners.
The consortium delivered 43 units during the first six months of 2026, twice as many as in the same period of 2025. The program calls for the delivery of 348 vehicles by the end of 2028.
The Legion Brigade, based in Viator, and the 1st Engineer Regiment in Burgos already have sufficient vehicles to conduct tests under conditions similar to those of a real operation. The trials are intended to achieve the Dragón’s initial operational capability by the end of 2026.
The 8×8 armored vehicle is part of the Spanish Army’s transformation and digitalization under the Force 35 Plan. According to information released about the program, its open architecture allows for the integration of new technologies, including artificial intelligence and multidomain collaborative combat solutions.
