Navantia to Repair and Modernize Two Angolan Patrol Vessels in Cádiz

Navantia has signed a contract in Angola with state-owned company Simportex to repair and modernize the Angolan Navy’s Golfinho and Atlántico patrol vessels. The work will be carried out at the San Fernando shipyard in Cádiz.

The two Mandume-class vessels were built at the same facility in the early 1990s by Empresa Nacional Bazán, Navantia’s predecessor. Simportex is the company responsible for procurement for Angola’s Ministry of Defense.

The agreement also includes training in Spain for Angolan officers and two years of maintenance support for the patrol vessels. According to information released by Navantia, it also provides for the transfer of expertise so that the Angolan Navy can take over these tasks in the African country.
