Retail sales in Aragon rose 1.1% year over year in September, compared with a 1.6% decline across Spain as a whole. Meanwhile, the Volveremos program generated €10.5 million in sales during the first days of its campaign.
Aragon ranks among the regions with the strongest retail sales growth
Data from the Retail Trade Index (ICM) show that constant-price sales in Aragon increased 1.1% from September a year earlier. The region outperformed the national figure by 2.7 percentage points, ranking as the third-fastest-growing autonomous community in a month when only four regions posted positive rates.
The monthly trend was also favorable for retailers in Aragon. Sales rose 2.7% from August, according to the unadjusted series, while they fell 0.3% in Spain. Employment in the sector followed the same trend, with employment increasing 1.5% year over year in September, above the national average.
The director general for SMEs, Self-Employment, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Carmen Herrarte, said Aragon’s retail sales growth has been twice the national rate over the past three years, a period that, she noted, coincides with the launch of Volveremos.

Volveremos has generated €62.2 million in sales since June 2026
The Volveremos program, designed to encourage shopping at local businesses, generated €10.5 million in sales during the first days of its campaign. With this result, the various initiatives launched since June 2026 have brought the cumulative total to €62.2 million.
The initiative operates in 71 municipalities, including Aragon’s three provincial capitals, and includes more than 3,400 businesses and 136,000 users. Its shared framework allows municipalities to develop their own campaigns and tailor incentives to local conditions.
Herrarte linked the consumer response to the need to promote measures that help businesses increase sales and encourage spending in neighborhoods and municipalities. She said the mobilization of €10.5 million in just a few days demonstrates the public’s response to incentives aimed directly at local consumption.
