The Government of Spain has announced an investment of €266 million for the development of housing policies in Aragón as part of the 2026-2030 State Housing Plan. This plan, which will mobilize a total of €7 billion, aims to boost the construction, rehabilitation, and protection of housing throughout the country.
Unanimous Agreement at the Sectoral Conference
The Sectoral Conference on Housing and Urban Agenda, chaired by Minister Isabel Rodríguez, achieved a unanimous agreement on the distribution of the State Housing Plan funds among the autonomous communities. This consensus, reached among administrations of different political affiliations, underscores the importance of collaboration in addressing the housing problem in Spain. Rodríguez emphasized that this agreement sends a clear message of unity and effectiveness in public policy management.
Economic Impact in Aragón
Under the framework of the new plan, Aragón will receive an allocation of €30.4 million in 2026, as part of the €800 million earmarked for the autonomous communities that year. In total, the Aragón community will have €266 million available until 2030, enabling the implementation of public housing policies that respond to local needs.
Key Elements of the State Housing Plan
The State Housing Plan establishes a model of financial co-responsibility, where the central government contributes 60% of the resources and the autonomous communities provide the remaining 40%. The funds will be allocated to three key areas: at least 40% for the construction and acquisition of housing, 30% for the rehabilitation of existing homes, and the remaining 30% for the protection of vulnerable groups and territories.
Additionally, the plan includes measures to ensure the permanent protection of the housing constructed with these funds and guarantees transparency in the allocations through an anti-fraud clause. It will also promote territorial cohesion and enhance a public data system to facilitate access to accurate and transparent information for the public.
