Data centers will create 9,000 jobs and generate 372 million annually in Aragon
The President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, participated in the presentation of the study conducted by the Basilio Paraíso Foundation on the economic and social impact of data centers. The report reveals positive conclusions for the autonomous community stemming from the deployment of these technological infrastructures.
Impact on Employment
Data centers will generate up to 4,500 highly qualified direct jobs once operational. For each direct job created, nearly one indirect job will also be generated, reaching up to 9,000 sustainable jobs over time.
During the construction phase, from 2026 to 2029, the activity will mobilize a higher volume, with an average of more than 21,000 workers in sectors such as construction, engineering, materials industry, and specialized technical services.
Fiscal Footprint and Revenue
The activity will have a significant impact on public finances. In the next ten years, the tax revenue linked to the data centers will range between 860 and 1,200 million euros. Once operational, the centers will contribute recurrently up to 372 million euros annually to public coffers.
Economic Impact on GVA and GDP
Between 2025 and 2035, the construction phase will generate between 7,900 and 10,800 million euros in Gross Value Added for Aragon. In 2028, the investment will reach a historic magnitude, amounting to 16.8% of the current Gross Domestic Product of Aragon.
President Azcón positively assessed the report, stating that it represents «a true economic engine that will revitalize our entire productive fabric and place Aragon at the center of the European technological map.» He emphasized that Aragonese society and businesses must prepare «for job growth, for an unprecedented moment in our autonomous community.»
