The Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Government of Aragón has allocated a total of 15,297.31 euros to finance various educational Olympiads in the region. This investment aims to promote talent and student participation in scientific, humanistic, and technological disciplines, thus reaffirming the government’s commitment to the academic development of students in Aragón.
Distribution of Funding
The financial allocation has been divided between non-profit organizations and the University of Zaragoza. Non-profit entities have received 11,447.06 euros, while the University of Zaragoza has benefited from 3,850.25 euros. This distribution reflects balanced support for both institutional and independent initiatives.
Benefited Olympiads and Competitions
The non-profit organizations have organized various Olympiads in Aragón, notably the LXI Spanish Mathematical Olympiad, managed by the Aragón Mathematical Talent Workshop Association, and the XXXVIII Aragón Chemistry Olympiad, organized by the College of Doctors and Graduates in Chemical Sciences. Other initiatives include the 33rd Aragón Mathematical Olympiad, the 36th Aragón Physics Olympiad, the XII Philosophy Olympiad, and the IV Aragón Informatics Olympiad.
On the other hand, the University of Zaragoza has promoted the XVI Economics Olympiad and the XVI Geology Olympiad, both organized by their respective faculties. Additionally, the Faculty of Sciences has launched the 11th School Crystallization Contest and the «Have Fun with Statistics» Contest, thus expanding opportunities for practical learning and research.
Criteria for Fund Allocation
The allocation of funds was based on the scores obtained by each project, following the criteria established in the call for proposals. This methodology ensures that initiatives with the greatest potential impact receive the necessary support, also allowing for the redistribution of remaining funds among projects that exceeded the minimum evaluation thresholds.
