The Impulse Awards 2025 have recognized five Spanish initiatives that stand out for their innovation and commitment to sustainable mobility. The awardees range from electric motorcycle start-ups to circular economy projects and transportation solutions for rural areas.
VELCA wins the innovation award with its electric motorcycle
VELCA, a Spanish brand of electric motorcycles, has received the Mobility City Award for the best innovation project from a Spanish start-up. Its model Velca ONE has been chosen by users as the best electric motorcycle for three consecutive years, positioning it as the most registered electric motorcycle with an integrated battery in the Spanish market.
The company has developed the first custom electric motorcycle in Europe, the Velca Vortex, which commands more than 45% of the market share for electric road motorcycles. Currently, VELCA offers eight different models of motorcycles with deliveries in over 14 countries.
Tera Batteries revolutionizes the circular economy of batteries
TERA, a technological industrial company specializing in decarbonizing the automotive sector, has been recognized with the Innovation Award in electric mobility. Its main focus is on recovering, repairing, and reusing electric vehicle batteries.
The company has created advanced methodologies for diagnosing and refurbishing lithium batteries that reduce the evaluation time for each battery to 10 minutes, compared to the 5 hours of the traditional process. Among its products are TERA NOMAD, a portable energy station with second-life batteries, and TERA NEO, a scalable energy storage system aimed at the industrial sector.
Green Charge Flex: urban fast charging with second-life batteries
Little Electric Energy SL has received the award for the best development of sustainable mobility for urban areas for Green Charge Flex, a modular energy storage system that utilizes second-life batteries from electric vehicles.
This project enables the establishment of fast charging points in urban environments using renewable energy, extending the lifespan of the batteries by 5 to 10 years. The system integrates electric mobility, energy storage, and renewable sources, reducing hazardous waste and adapting to various spaces, from parking lots to charging hubs.
VIVe: electric carsharing for rural areas
Dealerbest, in collaboration with Hyundai Spain, has been awarded the prize for the best development of sustainable mobility for rural areas for the VIVe project. This carsharing initiative works with local municipalities to facilitate transportation in small towns with limited public transport.
The service uses 100% electric Hyundai Kona vehicles managed through the VIVe app. Municipalities provide an exclusive charger, and users can reserve vehicles for free or at a nominal cost, depending on local decisions. To date, over 2,500 users have made more than 22,000 reservations, covering over 580,000 kilometers and avoiding the emission of 48.14 tons of CO₂, according to data from AEMA. The project also boosts the local economy by facilitating access to nearby businesses and low-emission areas in major cities.
CEA Foundation: commitment to road safety
The CEA Foundation (European Automobile Club) has received a special recognition for its social initiative in mobility. This non-profit organization works on activities for prevention and education in road safety, with objectives that include reducing traffic accidents, achieving sustainable mobility, protecting accident victims, respecting the environment, and lowering pollution levels.
