Zaragoza to Host the Sixth Edition of the Saulus Festival 2025 Featuring International Artists

The Saulus Festival returns to Zaragoza from September 14 to November 9, 2025, with its sixth edition, solidifying the city as a reference point for vocal music. The event will bring together top-level national and international ensembles and soloists in five concerts and a choral experimentation workshop, taking place at the Iglesia de San Pablo and the headquarters of Caja Rural de Aragón.

International artists fill the festival’s program

The festival will feature the prestigious Latvian choir Kamēr, directed by Jurģis Cābulis, which will visit Zaragoza for the first time on October 24. This ensemble, a winner of numerous international awards since 1990, is recognized for its vocal excellence and expressiveness.

The Swedish vocal group En Kör, an emerging reference in the new European choral scene, will perform a concert on October 29 at the Iglesia de San Pablo. This group, founded in 2016 and comprising twelve singers, has received significant recognition in international competitions.

Soprano Laia Falcón will perform alongside pianist Alberto Rosado on September 23, with a program focusing on Modernism, including works by Mahler, Ravel, Poulenc, Weill, Gershwin, and Ginastera.

Aragonese singer-songwriter Ester Vallejo, recognized for her album A la fresca as Best Aragonese Album 2024, will participate in the festival by leading the Choral Experimentation Laboratory on November 8 and 9.

Innovative stage proposals enrich the festival

One of the most original proposals will be Juicio a Gesualdo on October 21, where the Cor de Cambra del Palau will collaborate with jazz pianist Marco Mezquida and actors Paula Blanco and Ignasi Guasch. This bold theatrical proposal will recreate an imaginary trial of composer Carlo Gesualdo, combining Renaissance madrigals with jazz improvisations under the direction of Xavier Puig.

The Refectorio opens spaces for participation and experimentation

The festival maintains its commitment to participation through The Refectorio, which this year transforms into a Choral Experimentation Laboratory. Led by Ester Vallejo, it will draw on themes from her award-winning album A la fresca to generate artistic synergies and expand the horizon of Aragonese choral music.
