Ibercaja Foundation: Book Tuesdays Cycle Begins in September

Ibercaja Foundation resumes its Martes de libros cycle in September with eight renowned Spanish authors

The cultural entity kicks off a new season of literary meetings at the Patio de la Infanta, which will run until December with figures such as Santiago Posteguillo, Luz Gabás, and Jorge Díaz (Carmen Mola). The program, now celebrating its sixth year, will also include a special presentation dedicated to the essential works of the Aragonese writer Ramón J. Sender.

Schedule from September to December

The cycle will begin on September 4 with Sergio Vila-Sanjuán, winner of the 2025 Fernando Lara Novel Prize and the 2013 Nadal Prize, who will present his latest work Mystery in the Gothic Quarter in conversation with Antón Castro. The novel, set in Barcelona, tells the story of a veteran journalist who receives threatening letters while investigating the disappearance of a woman decades earlier.

On September 9, the writer from Zaragoza Desirée Ruiz will present her fourth novel The House of Poppies alongside journalist Ana Segura. This mystery and intrigue novel, set in Albarracín, explores the secret behind the disappearance of two young women and its impact on three generations of women marked by loss and hope.

Tribute to Ramón J. Sender

On September 11, there will be a special presentation of a volume that gathers the most emblematic works of the Aragonese writer Ramón J. Sender: Imán, Mr. Witt in the Canton, and Requiem for a Spanish Peasant. Juan Carlos Ara Torralba, responsible for the prologue, and expert José Carlos Mainer will lead this meeting dedicated to recovering the legacy of the author who masterfully portrayed exile and the Civil War.

Prominent figures of the literary autumn

On September 23, Luz Gabás, winner of the 2022 Planeta Prize, will present Golden Heart in conversation with Elena Puértolas. The novel transports readers to California in the mid-19th century during the Gold Rush, following the adventure of a young Spaniard, Lorién, in a story of love, friendship, and survival.

In October, on the 14th, Jorge Díaz, a member of the trio Carmen Mola, will present his solo novel The Spy alongside Esperanza Pamplona. This historical thriller, set in Mojácar in 1952, is based on real events and stars Corporal Javier Bermejo, who must solve the mystery of a mutilated corpse while rescuing the figure of Jewish spy Isaac Ezratty.

On October 21, it will be Carla Montero‘s turn with The Lady of the Mist, a work that immerses the reader in the world of motorsport during the 1930s, specifically in the legendary Isle of Man race.

Closing with renowned names

The month of November will bring two notable events. On the 11th, Santiago Posteguillo will continue his ambitious literary project with The Three Worlds, narrating Julius Caesar’s conquest of Gaul following the success of Rome is Me and Damned Rome.

On November 25, Marta Robles, a prominent figure in cultural and social journalism with numerous awards, will present Amada Carlota, the fourth installment in the series featuring detective Roures, which has been unanimously praised by critics and the public alike.

The 2025 schedule will conclude on December 2 with Alfonso Goizueta, a breakout author and finalist for the 2023 Planeta Prize, who will present The Dream of Troy, a work that addresses the fascinating archaeological discovery of the city described in the Iliad.

The Martes de libros initiative celebrates six years as a reference for literature lovers, establishing itself as one of the most outstanding cultural events of the Ibercaja Foundation. The program will continue with new literary appointments throughout 2026, reflecting the entity’s commitment to promote reading and culture through a varied program aimed at all tastes and interests.
