Indra unveiled the Squall cruise missile and the Drizzle interceptor at the ninth 2E+I Forum, held in Toledo. The company positions both developments as solutions for the Spanish Army that can be deployed at scale and readily replaced.
According to the company, Squall is the first Spanish-made cruise missile. It is designed to carry out precision strikes at ranges exceeding 300 kilometers, measures 3.4 meters and has a maximum takeoff weight of 150 kilograms. It can carry a 60-kilogram warhead.
Drizzle is an 80-centimeter effector capable of flying at 400 kilometers per hour to target drones, light vehicles or antennas. Its range is 80 kilometers and can be extended to 130 kilometers through a mothership drone, which also carries an explosive warhead and can be used as an attack platform.
The system can be integrated as a hard-kill solution within a counter-drone system, launched independently from the ground, or incorporated into the armament of a drone or helicopter. Indra says it has accelerated its processes to provide rapidly deliverable developments tailored to neutralizing mass attacks.
Tarsis drones and the Aracne counter-drone system
The forum also serves as a showcase for several Special Armed Forces Modernization Programs involving the company. These include Santam, aimed at supplying 147 Tarsis tactical drones in fixed-wing and vertical takeoff and landing versions.
Indra is also showcasing Aracne, the counter-drone system it is developing with EM&E, and the Coaaas Anti-Aircraft Artillery Operations system. The latter incorporates the company’s MTR active electronically scanned array radars. The company says these solutions are designed to operate in an integrated manner within a system of systems and under a multidomain combat approach.
The 100th Dragón 8×8
The 2E+I Forum coincides with the delivery of the 100th Dragón 8×8 vehicle. Indra, which has led Tess Defence for the past 18 months, says it has consolidated the Dragón 8×8 VCR program over that period and more than doubled deliveries so far this year.
