The Macanaz Park in Zaragoza will host the 1st International Garnacha Festival from June 6 to 8, an event that combines wine, gastronomy, and music in a privileged setting with views of the Basilica del Pilar. The event, promoted by the Zaragoza City Council, is part of the World Capital of Garnacha program and aims to position the city as a global wine tourism reference.
One of the main attractions will be the ‘Vibra Garnacha’ stage, which will feature performances by local groups and DJs such as The Cucumbers, Alex Melero, Zoe DJ, Los Brindis, The WineBrothers, Alex Curreya, and Los Cracks del 29, among others. The stage will be accompanied by three DJ sets distributed throughout the venue, creating a festive atmosphere during the three days of the festival.
A total of 21 wineries from the Denominations of Origin Campo de Borja, Calatayud, and Cariñena will be present with booths where attendees can taste the best wines from the region. The venue will also feature a five-meter garnacha tunnel, picnic areas, a terrace with views, a boutique market with local creators, and a 14-meter artistic photocall.
The program is complemented by parallel activities throughout the city: tastings and pairings at the Central Market, gastronomic workshops in collaboration with Saborea España and Cafés y Bares, and events on hotel rooftops as part of the Noches de Calor Festival. Additionally, the GastroGarnacha initiative will take place in bars and restaurants until June 8, with promotions for tapas and special menus featuring garnacha wine.
The Mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, emphasized that this festival «represents the union of tradition, territory, and innovation,» and strengthens the position of garnacha as one of the most recognized varieties globally, with 18,000 hectares of vineyard in the province.
With accredited international press and tourist discounts, the festival aims to energize local commerce, boost tourism, and consolidate Zaragoza’s wine identity on an international level.
