The program «Aragón Habla Inglés,» driven by the Government of Aragón in collaboration with the INAEM, CEOE Aragón, and Kings Corner, has trained over 1,000 students in English, marking a successful return after four years of hiatus. This educational effort focuses on improving the linguistic skills of unemployed individuals and workers, enhancing their employability in an increasingly globalized environment.
Impact of the program in the Aragonese provinces
The initiative has reached 1,085 participants distributed across 81 training courses, covering all three provinces of Aragón. Zaragoza has benefited the most with 60 courses, followed by Huesca with 12 and Teruel with 9, including locations such as Ejea de los Caballeros, Caspe, and Tarazona. The average age of the students is around 30 years, reflecting a growing interest in improving English among young adults.
Additionally, online training has been offered for beginner levels A1 and A2, expanding the program’s reach to an additional 2,000 people. In total, more than 3,000 Aragonese have improved their English skills thanks to this initiative.
Results and certifications obtained
It is anticipated that 75% of the participants will achieve the official Oxford certification, a recognition that significantly enhances job opportunities. The program has not only facilitated English learning but has proven to be a catalyst for employment, especially for those who reached level C1, who have quickly found work, according to Alex García, CEO of Kings Corner.
Future perspectives and institutional assessment
Claudia Pérez Forniés, acting counselor of Employment, Science, and Universities, emphasized the importance of English as an essential tool for employability in an Aragón that is committed to technological and industrial growth. Meanwhile, Benito Tesier, president of CEOE Aragón, highlighted the relevance of English for business internationalization, aligning the program with the current labor market needs.
