The exhibition’s official opening will take place on Tuesday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m., in the presence of the artist. Admission will be free, and the venue will be open Tuesday through Saturday during regular business hours.

The opening of Galería Nueva’s new venue will be supported by the Festival Abierto de Acción and Artix Espacio Creativo. The exhibition presents Muro’s recent paintings as the first show at the new Madrid space.

More than 30 recent works celebrating everyday pleasures

The exhibition brings together a body of more than 20 large-format paintings and 10 small-format drawings, all recently created. The project revisits Sergio Muro’s visual-art roots and extends the line of his previous Zaragoza exhibition, Hedonistic Existence.

His works explore everyday actions associated with pleasure and well-being, such as reading, walking the dog, running in nature, listening to music, having coffee, or making love. Color, vitality, and bold outlines define a recognizable visual language within figurative painting.

Cultural manager María Horno highlights the new, fresh, and pleasurable nature of his work. Meanwhile, artist Domix Garrido interprets Muro’s oeuvre as an expression of freedom, happiness, and beauty.

Jesús Pedro Lorente, professor of contemporary art at the University of Zaragoza, underscores his use of human figures, vivid colors, and silhouettes outlined in black. Lorente links these paintings to Gauguin’s maniera cloisonné, pointing to such features as arbitrary use of color, naïve primitivism, naturalistic mysticism, provocation, and voluptuousness.
