Zaragoza Provincial Council Allocates 200,000 Euros to Support 31 Local Bands
The Zaragoza Provincial Council has announced its annual call for music grants, allocating a total of 200,000 euros to 31 bands in the province. This initiative aims to promote culture and music education in the municipalities of Zaragoza, ensuring the continuity of these groups as educational centers.
Objectives and Allocation of Grants
The grants awarded will allow the beneficiary bands to finance various training activities and operational expenses. Specifically, they will be able to cover costs of courses, seminars, and other training activities aimed at their members, as well as expenses related to musical direction and the teaching staff in charge of education. They also cover general operating expenses of the groups.
To determine the amount of each grant, the Provincial Council considered several factors: the demographic compensation quota, the total number of members and students in training, the number of teachers providing classes, and the number of concerts committed to municipalities other than their own. Due to budgetary constraints, no band can receive more than 10,000 euros.
Beneficiary Bands
Among the 31 subsidized musical groups are entities from various locations such as Ainzón, Alagón, Alhama de Aragón, Almonacid de la Sierra, Alpartir, Ateca, Azuara, Botorrita, Calatorao, Cosuenda, Ejea de los Caballeros, Encinacorba, Épila, Fuentes de Ebro, La Almunia de Doña Godina, Layana, Leciñena, Luesia, Magallón, Mallén, Morata de Jalón, Muel, Novallas, Pedrola, Sádaba, Tarazona, Villanueva de Gállego, and Zaragoza.
According to the institution, music in the province serves as a cultural engine that strengthens local identities and generates social fabric. Musical initiatives, which include choirs, bands, conservatories, and festivals, connect residents with their municipalities and promote both civic engagement and creativity. This artistic boost also contributes to the local economy, attracts cultural tourism, and showcases the province’s rich heritage.
The Zaragoza Provincial Council defines its cultural commitment as a task that transcends mere financial support, driving projects, facilitating infrastructure, promoting training, and fostering cooperation among entities, positioning culture—especially music—as a strategic axis to improve quality of life and strengthen social cohesion in the province.
