Zaragoza is preparing to celebrate its patron, San Valero, with a series of cultural activities that will span five days, from January 28 to February 1. This event, which aims to attract both locals and visitors, promises a blend of tradition, music, and entertainment for all ages.
Celebration of Traditions and Folklore
The festivities begin on January 28 with the Ronda del Gallo, a folkloric event that will take place in the center of Zaragoza. This parade will be led by renowned jota singers Nacho del Río and Beatriz Bernad, who will contribute their talent to this traditional celebration. On January 29, the central day of the festivities, the traditional sharing of the roscón will be held in the Plaza del Pilar, organized by El Periódico de Aragón, and will feature the Comparsa de Gigantes y Cabezudos for entertainment.
Musical and Theatrical Performances
Music will take center stage in the Plaza de la Justicia on January 29 with performances by Zambra, Jimmy J. Moore, Ester Vallejo, and Direi (Aragón Radio). The musical program continues on January 31 at the Delegation of the Government with Ferrán and Willowisp, concluding on February 1 with Prospekt Mira and El Vicio del Duende at the same venue. Additionally, on January 31 at 6:00 PM, the company La Fam Teatre will present «Quimera y Aquiles,» an itinerant show featuring giant mechanical figures that will parade along Paseo Independencia.
Activities for Young Children and Theatre
On January 29, families will be able to enjoy activities with León Garganchón and Tragachicos, the children’s show «Los Tropezantes,» and a special distribution of roscón for children. Meanwhile, the theatrical play «Promenade» by Caleidoscopio Teatro will be presented from January 28 to February 1. Inspired by «Pictures at an Exhibition» by Modest Mussorgsky, this play offers an artistic experience accessible to all audiences.
