Early Childhood and Primary Education Students Undertake Placements at Rural Schools in Aragón

Forty Early Childhood and Primary Education students have begun the seventh edition of Generación docentes, a program that will place them in rural schools across five Spanish regions. Aragón will host six participants at schools in the provinces of Zaragoza and Huesca.

Six rural schools in Aragón to host internships through June 2027

The initiative, promoted by the Princess of Girona Foundation, brings together students from nine Spanish regions and sixteen Spanish universities. The program combines training, mentoring, a learning community, and a four-month curricular placement at leading rural schools.

The internships will take place between November 2, 2026, and June 30, 2027, at twenty-six educational centers in Andalusia, Aragón, Castile and León, Extremadura, and Galicia. Each participant will relocate to a region other than their region of origin and residence.

In Aragón, the future teachers will complete their placements at CRA Montesnegros, CEIP Ramón y Cajal de Alpartir, CRA Monegros Norte, CRA Somontano, CEIP San Ginés, and CRA El Enebro. Participants will receive support from their university supervisors, mentor teachers at their host schools, and specialists associated with the program.

The organization will provide a grant of €3,000 per participant to help cover travel, accommodation, and attendance at in-person training sessions.

New cohort adds Andalusia as a rural placement destination

The seventh edition adds Andalusia as a new destination region. Six Andalusian schools will host students, matching Aragón’s total; Galicia will have seven participating schools, Castile and León four, and Extremadura three.

The cohort includes twelve students from the Valencian Community, eight from Andalusia, eight from the Community of Madrid, three from Cantabria, three from Castile-La Mancha, two from Catalonia, and one each from Castile and León, the Canary Islands, and the Basque Country.

The program began with a gathering held from October 2 to 5 at La Granja Ability Training Center in Santa Maria de Palautordera, Barcelona. Over four days, attendees worked on areas including self-awareness, teacher identity, emotional well-being, and preparation for joining rural schools.

Zaragoza educators take part in training gathering

The Ruralízate session introduced students to the experiences of professionals and former program participants. Speakers included Juan Antonio Rodríguez, a teacher at CEIP Ramón y Cajal de Alpartir; Raquel Rodríguez Giralt, principal of Galicia’s CRA Amencer; and two former Generación docentes students.

The gathering also addressed teacher well-being in the Claustro de bienestar session, featuring Guillermo Sánchez Guiu, principal of IES Ramón y Cajal in Zaragoza, and Rosa María Llorente, principal of CEIP Ramiro Soláns in Zaragoza. The two schools received the Princess of Girona School of the Year Award in 2022 and 2025, respectively.

Since its launch in 2020, Generación docentes has brought together more than 200 participants and collaborated with forty education faculties at Spanish universities. The seventh edition is supported by Deloitte.
