The Zaragoza Province Organ Festival will hold its 44th edition from September 17 to 27, 2026, featuring 13 free concerts in 13 municipalities. The festival will pay tribute to organist and teacher José Luis González Uriol on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
The Organ Festival will bring 13 concerts to Zaragoza and 12 other municipalities
The program will begin on Thursday, September 17, at 8:00 p.m., at the Church of Santa Isabel de Portugal in Zaragoza. The opening concert will bring together Benantzi Bilbao and Javier Artigas, coordinator of the festival, which will run through September 27.
The festival will visit Almonacid de la Sierra, Villanueva de Huerva, Cariñena, Paniza, Ricla, Caspe, Fuentes de Ebro, Gallur, Daroca, Longares, Ariza and Ejea de los Caballeros. Admission to all recitals will be free, subject to venue capacity.
The festival has more than four decades of history linked to the province’s organ heritage. Over that period, it has brought together Spanish and international performers and turned the organs preserved in Zaragoza’s churches into a meeting place for professionals and specialists.
José Luis González Uriol’s 90th birthday shapes the 2026 edition
This year’s edition centers on José Luis González Uriol, recognized for his role in restoring and promoting the organ heritage of Zaragoza Province. The selected performers are nationally and internationally renowned professionals who studied under the maestro.
Javier Artigas says the program seeks to reflect two aspects of González Uriol’s work: his efforts to restore instruments from his native region and his work as an educator. The 13 participating organists are part of the so-called “González Uriol stable,” an expression used to identify musicians from the same educational background.
The festival also highlights the organs preserved in parishes across the province, from instruments built in the 17th century to more recently constructed ones. The program once again presents them as living venues for the performance of sacred and historical music.

Following the opening in Zaragoza, Saturday, September 19 will feature five performances: Ministriles de Marsias, at 7:00 p.m., at the Church of La Asunción in Almonacid de la Sierra; Silvia Márquez, at the same time, at the Parish Church of La Asunción in Cariñena; Eduardo Gregorio, at 7:00 p.m., in Paniza; Luis Pedro Braviz, at 7:30 p.m., in Villanueva de Huerva; and Benantzi Bilbao, at 8:00 p.m., in Ricla.
On Sunday, September 20, Esther Ciudad will perform at 7:00 p.m. at the Collegiate Church of Santa María la Mayor in Caspe, while Pilar Montoya will give a recital at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of La Asunción in Fuentes de Ebro. The final stretch will begin on Friday the 25th with Juan San Martín in Gallur at 7:00 p.m., and continue on Saturday the 26th with Saskia Roures in Daroca, also at 7:00 p.m.
The closing will take place on Sunday, September 27, with three concerts: Sonia Pueyo will perform at noon in Longares; Chus Gonzalo, at 7:00 p.m., in Ariza; and Luis Antonio González Marín will close the festival at 7:00 p.m. at the Parish Church of Santa María in Ejea de los Caballeros.
