Aragonese exports grow by 1.6% annually and reach 1,298.3 million euros, the highest value in the historical series in the month of April

Aragonese exports registered a year-on-year increase of 1.6% in the month of April 2022, according to data made public this Thursday by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. Aragon’s foreign trade data continue to show the robust evolution followed during the last few months by regional foreign sales, which reached a value of 1,298.3 million euros in April, which is the highest value in the historical series in the fourth month of the year. In Spain, the average increase in exports in April was 21.2%.

With the accumulated data for the first four months of 2022, it can be seen how Aragonese exports experienced a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, reaching 5,267.7 million euros, compared to the 23.2% increase recorded up to April by the average for the country.

With regard to total Aragonese imports in April, these decreased by 9.2% year-on-year, reaching a value of 1,096.7 million euros, while in the national aggregate, purchases abroad recorded an average increase of 38.9%. On the other hand, the figure for regional foreign purchases accumulated between January and April reached a value of 4,468.1 million euros, which represents a year-on-year increase of 12.6%, to be compared with the 39.0% annual increase recorded for Spain as a whole.

The breakdown of foreign trade figures among the main sectors shows how the most dynamic activities in foreign sales of the Autonomous Community during April 2022 were those related to the automotive sector (with an export value of 341, 6 million euros, accounting for 26.3% of the total), food, beverages and tobacco (with an export value of 213.6 million euros, accounting for 16.5% of the total) and capital goods (with an export value of 212 million euros, accounting for 16.3% of the total).

With regard to Aragon’s imports, the productive sectors that show the highest figures in the same month are the following: consumer manufactures (with an import value of 319.2 million euros, representing 29.1% of the total), capital goods (with an import value of 286.1 million euros, representing 26.1% of the total), and chemical products (with an import value of 162.3 million euros, representing 14.8% of the total).

As a result of the evolution of trade flows so far in 2022 (accumulated between January and April), Aragon recorded a trade surplus of 799.7 million euros, 28.8% lower than that obtained during the same period of 2021. In this way, the Autonomous Community contributes to the decrease in the Spanish trade deficit accumulated up to April 2022, which stands at 21,810.9 million euros.Finally, Aragon’s coverage rate in the year-to-date is positive and rises to 117.9%, 33.2 points above the Spanish average (84.7%).
