Aragón Exterior and Amazon will help Aragonese SMEs to increase their exports through the Internet

One hundred small and medium-sized companies from Aragon will receive training in e-commerce to design their business plans and focus them on increasing their exports. The companies will receive training in areas such as digital marketing, online sales strategy and international operations as part of Amazon's Despega programme.

The relationship between the Government of Aragon and AWS is excellent, as evidenced by the recent agreement to expand AWS’ investments in the community. In 10 years, the multinational will invest 2.5 billion euros and hire 1,300 workers.

Aragón Exterior and Amazon are launching a programme to boost the internationalisation of small and medium-sized companies in Aragon through the Internet. This agreement between both entities will allow 100 Aragonese SMEs to access an Amazon training programme, within its Despega initiative, to boost their digitalisation. Marta Gastón, Regional Minister of Economy, Planning and Employment of the Government of Aragon, held a meeting this Thursday at the headquarters of Amazon Spain in Madrid with company officials for the implementation of this agreement.

In this way, SMEs will receive training during an intensive two-week programme to train in areas such as digital marketing, online sales strategy or international operations. The training will take the form of online seminars, videos and virtual classes with IE University experts and teachers specialising in e-commerce.

In addition, companies will participate in two virtual sessions with experts from Aragón Exterior and Amazon to learn the main concepts of digital marketing for SMEs and the keys to optimise the sales of small and medium-sized companies in online shops such as Amazon.

Marta Gastón highlighted the importance of this agreement, “truly useful for our business fabric”. This agreement is the result of collaboration with Amazon, which the Government of Aragon intends to continue increasing in order to “jointly promote a more modern and digitised productive fabric, and with a greater capacity for internationalisation”.

For his part, Xavier Flamand, Director of Services for Amazon Business Partners in Europe, said that, through this collaboration, “we want to continue supporting companies in Aragon to develop the necessary skills to sell globally and to lay the foundations of online sales to be successful for years to come, either with Amazon, or through other online services”.

The training programme will take place during the second half of October. Interested companies can register on the website of Aragon Exterior: www.aragonexterior.es/amazon-despega/

As part of this programme, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will also offer Aragonese companies support to accelerate their digital transformation through cloud technology. AWS will facilitate access to cloud computing for SMEs, allowing them to innovate faster, reduce costs, accelerate their business and increase their agility.

AREX Digital

The implementation of this initiative is part of the ‘AREX Digital’ service of Aragon Exterior, which aims to help small and medium-sized companies in Aragon to develop their digital sales channels focused on the international market. In this way, support is offered in the design and strategy to address the main markets and platforms.

Aragón Exterior is the internationalisation agency of the Government of Aragon, attached to the Department of Economy, Planning and Employment. It promotes the internationalisation of the Aragonese business fabric by supporting exports and attracting foreign investment. Its international network of foreign trade experts offers coverage in more than 100 markets.
