The Government of Aragón has announced €3 million in aid for SMEs and self-employed workers whose businesses or activities were damaged by the summer 2026 wildfires. The program, urgently published in the Official Gazette of Aragón, will fund repairs, recovery costs, and losses resulting from business interruptions.
Grants of up to €10,000 to repair damage and offset losses
The program, managed by the Department of Economy, Competitiveness and Employment, aims to support the recovery of areas affected by the wildfires. Applications may be submitted through October 19, inclusive.
Eligible applicants include individuals or legal entities that qualify as SMEs and own affected establishments within the geographical area defined in the order. The grants will cover damage to premises, facilities, machinery, furniture, inventory, and other assets connected to the economic activity.
Extraordinary costs for cleaning, ash removal, and restoring businesses to operating condition will also be eligible. The program additionally covers lost profits resulting from the closure, interruption, or reduction of activity during the specified period.
Aid extends to municipalities included in emergency declarations
The scope of the program includes population centers affected by the 2026 wildfires for which the Government of Aragón has requested a declaration of national emergency interest or an area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency.
The order initially lists several municipalities, although its scope extends to all those included in the applications submitted by the Aragón government for such declarations. As a result, the program may be expanded to include more affected localities.
Grants may cover 100% of documented damage
The aid may cover up to 100% of documented damage or losses, capped at €10,000 per beneficiary. Under no circumstances may it exceed the amount actually borne by the company or self-employed worker after deducting insurance payments and other public or private aid.
The program provides for advance payments of up to 100% of the grant awarded for repair work that has not yet been carried out or paid for. This option will allow beneficiaries to secure funding before undertaking recovery work.
