The Minister of Environment and Tourism, Manuel Blasco, praised the rehabilitation of Alquézar, highlighting its transformation into a tourist reference point in Aragón. During his institutional visit on March 2, 2026, Blasco emphasized the positive impact of the initiatives carried out in this municipality, which is part of the network of The Most Beautiful Villages in Spain and attracts more than 140,000 visitors annually.
Assessment of Infrastructure and Projects in Alquézar
During his tour of Alquézar, Blasco was accompanied by Jorge Moncada, General Director of Tourism and Hospitality, and Mayor Ana María Blasco. During this visit, the minister highlighted the «exemplary rehabilitation» carried out in the municipality over the past four decades. Additionally, he provided information on the initiatives of the Government of Aragón regarding housing and the projects of the Water Institute, which include improvements to the wastewater treatment plant, essential for the environmental sustainability of the region.
Advances in the Tourism Sustainability Plan
Blasco also learned about the development of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination Saborea Guara Somontano, which has an investment of 1 million euros and is 72% completed. Within this plan, Alquézar implements the initiative «Live Olives, Perimeter Gardens, and Preventive Grazing,» which seeks to balance landscape conservation with sustainable tourism development. This line of action reflects the municipality’s commitment to responsible tourism that respects the natural environment.
