Over 100 Students Participate in Amazon Girls Tech Day to Connect Girls with Technology

The Aragon Institute of Technology (ITA) hosted a new edition of the Amazon Girls Tech Day, an initiative driven by Amazon Web Services (AWS) aimed at sparking interest in scientific and technological fields among girls and young women. The event brought together 120 students from educational institutions in Aragon, focusing on programming, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.

The participants came from three educational centers in Aragon: the Eugenio López y López School, Pompiliano Escolapios, and the Condes de Aragón School. Throughout the morning, they engaged in various hands-on workshops and activities designed to make technology more accessible in a participative manner, with the support of over twenty AWS volunteers.

This initiative is part of the Amazon Think Big Space program, launched in Aragon in 2023. Since its inception, the project has reached more than 7,400 students from 45 educational centers across the provinces of Zaragoza, Huesca, and Teruel, with the goal of bringing STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to new generations.

In addition to the workshops, the day included a meeting with employees from the data centers operated by AWS in Aragon. During this activity, these professionals shared their work experiences and career paths with the participating students.

ITA Director Esther Borao and AWS representatives took part in the event’s opening, emphasizing the importance of making technology accessible to the younger generations through practical experiences and educational activities.

The Amazon Girls Tech Day is part of AWS’s efforts to promote technological training and knowledge of STEAM disciplines among students around the world. In Aragon, these initiatives are developed in collaboration with the Aragon Institute of Technology and are part of an educational program aimed at integrating digital and technological skills into the school curriculum.

The day concluded with a series of activities aimed at showcasing practical applications of technology and introducing participants to various fields related to innovation, engineering, and digital transformation.
