IES Rodanas de Épila Awarded 23,000 Euros for Erasmus+ Project

The IES Rodanas of Épila, in Zaragoza, has been selected to develop an educational project under the Jean Monnet Actions of the Erasmus+ program. This achievement marks a significant milestone as it is the first Aragonese center and one of the few in Spain to receive this distinction for secondary education.

Promoting European Knowledge in Secondary Education

The project at IES Rodanas is part of an initiative aimed at fostering knowledge about the European Union and its values through education. Historically, Jean Monnet Actions have been associated with universities, but their extension to schools highlights the importance of bringing these topics to earlier educational levels. This approach is especially relevant in a rural educational center like IES Rodanas, which has achieved this prestigious distinction.

The central objective of the project is to bring Europe closer to the students in a practical and participatory manner. A challenge-based methodology will be employed to encourage critical thinking among the students. The topics addressed will include understanding European institutions and common challenges such as sustainability, scientific innovation, and international cooperation.

Interdisciplinary Implementation and Available Resources

The implementation of the project will extend over the next three academic years, adopting an interdisciplinary approach. Different departments at IES Rodanas will participate in the integration of transversal content in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training. Additionally, the project will be linked to existing initiatives at the center such as ‘Sanador Films film production’, ‘Rodanas Sostenible’, and ‘Women and Girls in Science’.

The project has received financial support of approximately 23,000 euros, which will enable its development and the integration of necessary resources to achieve the proposed objectives. This funding reinforces IES Rodanas’s commitment to quality education and the formation of informed and engaged European citizens.
