Ambar Brewery Presents «Bar, Bar» by David Salcedo, a Photographic Look at the World of Family Bars
Ambar Brewery is hosting an exhibition for the third consecutive year as part of the PhotoEspaña Festival. This time, the venue in Zaragoza features «Bar, Bar», a photographic project by renowned artist David Salcedo that captures over a decade of life in bars as social and family hubs.
The exhibition, curated by Carol Rojo, arises from the photographer’s personal experience, having spent his childhood in the family bar opened by his parents in Lloret de Mar. Salcedo began developing this work almost unconsciously around 2014, creating an unpublished series that uses everyday objects as a thread to evoke familiar scenes from these spaces.
Curator Carol Rojo emphasizes that «David Salcedo combines photographic talent with a subtlety that can only be derived from a love for lived experiences,» describing the work as a reminder of the value and necessity of these meeting places.
David Salcedo was born in Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia) in 1981 but moved early to Catalonia, where he currently resides. His training at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya (IEFC) specialized in author and travel photography, later developing a self-taught and personal evolution.
The photographer is a member of the Calle 35 collective and founder of the platform Territorios Libres. His accolades include the New Talent Fnac Photography Award in 2015 for the project «1+1» and the Proyecta Award from the Andalusian Center of Photography.
The exhibition will be open from September 18 to January 4, 2025, at the building of the former brewery «La Zaragozana», located in the San José neighborhood. Visiting hours are Monday to Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Note: The original text presents an inconsistency regarding the end dates, mentioning both January 4 and October 4, 2025.
Admission tickets are priced at 4 euros and can be purchased through the Ambar Brewery website, including a visit to the exhibition and a drink. Access is via Ramón Berenguer IV street, with public transport connections through bus lines 23, 24, 31, 33, 34, 39, 40, 42, and N-5.
