The Aragonese brewery Cervezas Ambar has achieved a new milestone in its centennial history. Ambar Export has been recognized as the best Spanish amber beer in its category at two of the most prestigious international competitions in the sector: the World Beer Awards and the World Beer Challenge.
At the World Beer Awards held in Norwich (United Kingdom) in August, Ambar Export won the gold medal and the title of country winner in the Vienna lager category. This competition saw a record participation of 3,000 entries and evaluates beers blindly across three national and global rounds with a panel of international experts.
The second recognition came in May during the World Beer Challenge held in Estoril (Portugal), where Ambar Export achieved the highest possible score of 100/100 and another gold medal.
This achievement continues the success obtained in 2024, when Ambar Especial was recognized as the best beer in the world with a perfect score. In 2025, Ambar Especial retains the gold in the competition while Ambar Export takes over with the perfect score.
The Aragonese brewery has accumulated a total of 14 awards for its beers in 2025 alone, solidifying its position as one of the most awarded amber beers in Spain.
History and Characteristics of Ambar Export
With 45 years of history, Ambar Export is an exceptional amber beer, reddish in color, rich in aromatic nuances, and featuring a dense, creamy head. It is brewed with three malts, a double fermentation period, and a slow maturation in a cellar.
Over time, it has garnered numerous awards, accumulating nine consecutive golds solely at the World Beer Challenge and several distinctions at the World Beer Awards.
The history of Ambar Export is framed within the larger narrative of Cervezas Ambar, founded in 1900 in Zaragoza. The company is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year while maintaining the spirit of a family-owned and independent business, combining one of the oldest breweries in Spain with one of the most modern, located on the banks of the Ebro River.

Among the 14 awards obtained by the brewery in 2025 are gold medals for Ambar Especial, Ambar Export, Ambar 10, Ambar Especial Sin Gluten, Ambar 1900 Sin Filtrar, and Ambar IPA at the World Beer Challenge, as well as silver and bronze medals for other varieties such as Ambar Triple Zero and Ambar Radler.
