The educational administration of Aragón has taken a significant step by approving the creation of 367 new teaching positions for the 2026-2027 school year. This increase, the largest since 2019, underscores the region’s commitment to the stability of educational staff, even in a context of declining student numbers.
Distribution of the new teaching positions
The distribution of these new positions reflects a strategic approach to address the specific needs of each province. A total of 226 ordinary positions have been allocated, with Zaragoza receiving 151, Huesca 46, and Teruel 29. Additionally, 94 positions for teachers have been approved to strengthen bilingual programs, employing teachers with a C1 level in languages. In Zaragoza, 15 additional positions have been established in Special Education centers, reinforcing the commitment to inclusive education.
Advances in stabilization and specialization
Aragón has also promoted the stabilization of staff at the Digital Campus by creating 10 new positions, distributed among areas of computer science and systems and application technology. Furthermore, positions for second guides have been created in several secondary education institutes, including IES Vega del Turia in Teruel and CPI Parque Venecia in Zaragoza, among others.
A continuous commitment to education
This increase in positions adds to the 290 created in the 2025-2026 school year and the 272 in 2024-2025, resulting in a total of 562 new positions for career civil servants in two years. José María Cabello, General Director of Personnel, Training, and Innovation at the Department of Education, has highlighted the «spirit of consensus» and «ongoing dialogue» maintained with trade union organizations during this process, reflecting a collaborative approach to improving the Aragonese educational system.
