Aragón promotes measures to improve the quality of artistic education
The Government of Aragón has implemented new measures to strengthen the educational quality in artistic education with the commencement of the 2025-2026 academic year. This Monday, September 22, more than 1,500 students will begin their classes in artistic disciplines across various centers in the autonomous community.
The academic year for higher and professional artistic education starts this Monday in Aragón. Over 1,500 students will pursue disciplines such as music, dance, design, visual arts, or conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, consolidating a specialized educational offering that spans the three provinces of Aragón.
The artistic education in Aragón includes everything from elementary and professional studies in music, dance, and visual arts to higher qualifications equivalent to university degrees in music, design, or conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. According to Luis Mallada, General Director of Planning, Centers, and Vocational Training, these qualifications open doors to a broad trajectory in the cultural and creative sectors, with increasing national and international projection.
The Department of Education, Culture, and Sports has launched an Order of Extraordinary Awards for Artistic Education in Aragón to recognize the effort, talent, and excellence of students in their respective specialties.
This measure will allow, for the first time in Aragón, students of Higher Artistic Education to compete for these awards, leveling their opportunities to those available in other autonomous communities. Additionally, the process has been initiated to include the dance specialty in future calls for these awards.
European Supplements to the Degree and advisory bodies
The complete implementation of the European Supplements to the Degree (SET) has been successfully completed, a measure demanded by the educational community of higher artistic education that will enable Aragonese students to enhance the academic and professional recognition of their studies within the European Higher Education Area.
The Department has also activated the Superior Council for Artistic Education of Aragón, which will serve as an advisory body to the Councillor of Education, Culture, and Sports and as a platform for participation and dialogue with various stakeholders in the artistic and educational sectors.
With the start of this new academic year, the artistic centers of Aragón reaffirm their commitment to educational excellence and fostering artistic vocations among young people and adults who wish to develop their future within the cultural sphere.
