CEIP Lucas Arribas and IES Fernando Lázaro Win the Aragón Aula Natural Award 2026

CEIP Lucas Arribas and IES Fernando Lázaro Carreter have been awarded the Aragón Aula Natural 2026 prize in the categories of Primary and Secondary Education, respectively. The ceremony, held in La Alfranca, brought together seven Aragonese educational institutions, notable for their focus on biodiversity and environmental conservation.

Development of the event and program objectives

During the event, students from the seven participating schools presented their environmental research and outreach projects. The initiatives focused on the conservation and understanding of Aragon’s natural environment, with nearly 200 students and teachers participating. This program is a collaboration between the Departments of Education, Science and Universities, and Environment and Tourism of the Government of Aragón, underscoring its commitment to environmental education.

Winning projects in Primary and Secondary Education

In the Primary Education category, CEIP Lucas Arribas from Morata de Jalón was awarded for «The Dream of Rosalía.» This project focused on the Rosalia alpina and the Moncayo Natural Park, featuring a theatrical performance and a detailed model of the natural surroundings. In the Secondary Education category, IES Fernando Lázaro Carreter impressed with «Reforesting Moncayo: Discovering Biodiversity,» which included an interactive exhibition and a poetry book titled «Biodiverse.»

Other participating projects

Other notable projects included the «Field Notebook: Educational Stay at Gallocanta» from CEIP Margarita Salas, which explored the Gallocanta Lagoon. EFA Boalares presented «The Secret of Moncayo: From Valley to Summit,» characterized by its interactive format. From La Almunia de Doña Godina, IES Cabañas developed «From Grue in Gruem,» focusing on the common crane. IES Montes Negros highlighted the Flumen River, while IES Francés de Aranda addressed the Protected Landscape of the Pinares de Rodeno.

The winning schools will enjoy an excursion to a Protected Natural Space in Aragón, reflecting the importance of integrating environmental conservation into education. The event was marked by the active participation of students and teachers, reaffirming the commitment of educational institutions to the environment.
