The Government of Aragón has taken a significant step in its strategy to promote affordable housing by bidding for 440 public rental homes in the Parque Goya neighborhood of Zaragoza. This initiative, announced by the Minister of Development, Housing, Logistics, and Territorial Cohesion, Octavio López, aims to meet the housing demand, particularly among young Aragonese residents.
Details of the Housing Project in Parque Goya
The new homes will be located on a plot of over 30,000 square meters on Avenida Academia General Militar. Companies interested in the bid must offer a minimum of 440 units, each equipped with a garage and storage room. The distribution of the homes will be varied: between 15% and 25% will have one bedroom, up to 65% will have two bedrooms, and between 10% and 25% will have three bedrooms, ensuring a diversified offering to meet different family needs.
The administrative concession for these homes will last for a period of 75 years. At the end of this period, both the land and the buildings will revert to the Administration, thereby ensuring the perpetual public use of the space.
Rental Conditions and Assistance
Future tenants, whose incomes range between 2.5 and 5.5 times the Public Indicator of Multiple Effect Income (IPREM), will be able to benefit from direct aid from the Government of Aragón. This assistance is designed to ensure that rent does not exceed 30% of their monthly income, making this offer a truly accessible option for young families.
Implementation Schedule and Related Projects
The projected calendar anticipates that the awarding of the homes will take place in the summer of 2026, with construction starting at the end of that year or the beginning of 2027. The homes are expected to be ready by the last quarter of 2028. This project is part of a larger plan that includes other lots already awarded, such as Lot 1 with 608 homes in Actur and Valdespartera, which will be completed in 2027, and Lot 2 with 640 homes in Miralbueno and Rosales del Canal.
Additionally, similar projects are being developed in other Aragonese cities such as Teruel and Huesca, where housing for young people is prioritized. These efforts reflect a continuous commitment from the Government of Aragón to promote access to housing throughout the region.
