The Government of Aragón, through its General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, has contracted the restoration of the roofs of the Church of Our Lady of the Purification, located in the Zaragoza locality of Los Pintanos. The work will be carried out by the company Construcciones Calderón S.C. with a budget of 48,250 euros (including VAT) and an execution period of one month.
The works focus on the restoration of two critical areas: the southern slope, in the area of the sacristy, and the western slope, next to the tower. In both areas, there has been partial sinking due to the failure of the straps, resulting in moisture stains inside the temple. Currently, these areas are protected with tarpaulins to prevent further damage from water infiltration.
Beyond the priority repairs, a comprehensive review of the entire roof will be conducted to identify and remove broken or dislodged tiles on the perimeter eaves, preventing falls onto the public road. There will also be a renewal of the deteriorated pieces of the atrium roof, constructed from local stone slabs.
The Church of Our Lady of the Purification was built in ashlars in the late 15th century in the most strategic area of the urban settlement, within the walled enclosure. The temple has heritage protection: it was declared a historical-artistic monument of provincial interest by Order of October 21, 1982, later followed by its designation as Asset of Cultural Interest by Order of March 6, 2003 from the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Aragonese Government.
