The Government of Aragón and the company PROFAND Zaragoza have signed an agreement to officially recognize the labor competencies of 90 employees without formal qualifications, within the framework of the national system of professional qualifications and financed with European funds.
The Government of Aragón has taken a significant step in its professional recognition policy with the signing of a collaboration agreement with the company PROFAND Zaragoza, which specializes in the processing and production of seafood products. The agreement will allow for the accreditation of the professional competencies of 90 workers at the Zaragoza plant who, despite having solid experience in the sector, lack an official certification to back their knowledge and skills.
The agreement, channeled through the Agency of Professional Qualifications of Aragón and with the technical support of CEOE Aragón, aims to facilitate these employees’ access to formal accreditation within the national qualifications system. In this case, the competencies related to auxiliary operations in food industry production will be evaluated and certified, a strategic area for both the regional economy and the national agri-food chain.
This initiative is part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain and is funded by the European Next Generation EU funds. This support not only guarantees the economic viability of the process but also reinforces its alignment with community policies aimed at improving employability, recognizing non-formal training, and boosting the competitiveness of the productive fabric.
The process will begin in the coming months, allowing workers to officially accredit knowledge they already apply daily in their jobs, thereby contributing to their professional development, job stability, and promotion opportunities. The Aragonese administration emphasizes the positive impact that such measures have on human capital, as they provide individuals with real tools to improve their position in the labor market.
For its part, the leadership of PROFAND has positively valued the agreement, highlighting its importance in recognizing the effort and trajectory of employees, many of whom have years of experience without having had prior access to a formal certification pathway. This recognition, in addition to being a stimulus for workers, will allow the company to reinforce its commitment to the qualification and professionalization of its staff.
With this agreement, Aragón consolidates its position as one of the most active autonomous communities in implementing labor competency accreditation policies. This line of action not only addresses historical demands from the labor market but also aligns with the European strategic objectives of lifelong learning, modernization of qualification systems, and a commitment to a knowledge-based economy.
The success of this pilot project could lay the groundwork for extending similar agreements to other productive sectors, especially those where practical experience remains the primary avenue for learning. Thus, collaboration between public administrations and private companies proves to be an effective tool for building a more just, inclusive labor market that is adapted to the reality of workers.
