The Government of Aragón will implement a new Research/Excellence Baccalaureate at the IES ‘El Picarral’ starting from the next academic year, aimed at students with an average score above 8 in ESO, with the objective of promoting research and academic excellence.
Program Objectives
This program aims to complement the current educational offerings, integrating a focus on research and excellence in the fields of Sciences, Humanities, and Arts. Specific subjects will be introduced, such as Introduction to Research and Research Project, the latter in collaboration with the University of Zaragoza.
The Research/Excellence Baccalaureate will offer two specialization options: by academic modality or by specific subject, such as languages. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work directly with professionals and academics from the University of Zaragoza, participating in projects and practical workshops.
IES ‘El Picarral’ has been selected for this pilot program due to its track record in collaborative projects with the university since the 2020/2021 academic year. It is expected that this model will expand to other institutes in future calls, following an official selection process.
This program positions Aragón at the same level as other communities that already offer similar models, while also preparing students for highly specialized higher education and professional opportunities, enhancing their research and critical thinking skills.
