In 2025, the Aragonese Agency for Research and Development Foundation (ARAID) will expand its team with the addition of 9 researchers, marking a milestone in its 20-year history by strengthening strategic areas for Aragon.
The call for candidates attracted 42 applications, supported by 20 R&D centers in Aragon. A notable 65% of these came from international backgrounds, including Spanish researchers residing abroad. The selected research areas for this call include Medical Technologies and Advanced Therapies, Industrial Decarbonization and Energy Transition, Biotechnology and Agro-food Technologies, as well as Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity.
Since the beginning of the legislature, there has been a budget increase of 1 million euros annually. Between 2024 and 2025, ARAID will have incorporated a total of 20 researchers, representing an increase of 36% in its staff, reaching a total of 56 researchers.
The foundation has generated 1,400 projects and 10,000 scientific publications to date. In 2024 alone, competitive projects managed to attract €12.7M in funding from both national and European sources.
