Gastronomy, culture and tourism united in the II Ruta de la Tapa Mudéjar, from June 3 to 12

The fourteen establishments of the route offer their tapas inspired by this artistic movement, while on the other hand there will be the possibility of enjoying dramatized tours on the Mudejar.

A selection of 14 establishments will offer tapas inspired by the gastronomic legacy of the Mudejar culture. Thus comes the second edition of the Mudejar Tapas Route, presented this morning by the Deputy Mayor, Sara Fernandez, and the president of the Association of Cafes and Bars, Jose Maria Marteles. Visitors and locals will be able to discover the best gastronomy and one of the signs of the cultural identity of Zaragoza in different establishments near the area of San Pablo, La Seo and the Palace of La Aljafería, as well as bars in the surroundings of San Gil, San Miguel, La Magdalena or Torreón Fortea.

On this occasion, the Association of Cafés and Bars has complemented its gastronomic offer with two dramatized routes, independent of the bar route, organized in collaboration with Zaragoza Turismo, which can be enjoyed on Saturdays June 4 and 11. «Under the Mudejar moon» at 8.30 p.m. and «Discover the Hidden Zaragoza, the parish church of La Seo and the Mudejar environment» at 7.30 p.m., both departing from Plaza de La Seo. To enjoy these two routes it will be necessary to book in advance through the mail asocabar@cafesybares.com, with the name and ID. The deadline for registration is Friday June 3 (for the routes on Saturday June 4) and June 10 (for the routes on June 11) at 14:00 hours. The maximum number of participants per group is 35 people.

This project is launched as part of the city’s tourism strategy to combine its wealth of monuments, gastronomy and lifestyle. An experience to visit the Mudejar legacy of the city of Zaragoza with the possibility of tasting tapas inspired by the Mudejar culture. A form of thematic tourism that combines the knowledge of the monumental wealth of the capital with its lifestyle.

The gastronomic field is no stranger to this cultural contribution, in its broadest sense, given the important development that the Arabs provided to agriculture, perfecting and improving existing crops and introducing many new ones, which today are distinctive of the orchards of Zaragoza. And, today, the basis of the claim of kilometer 0 foods that meet sustainability criteria.

The first edition of the Ruta de la Tapa Mudéjar was held during the year 2021 and had great success of participation and consumption, a circumstance that motivates the celebration of this second edition, which aims to advance the fusion between gastronomy and culture, promoting certain dramatized activities that allow a greater hybridization between both perspectives during the celebration of the route, in attention to the rich heritage of our municipality and the quality of the culinary offerings of the catering establishments of the same.
