On June 5, 2025, the Crown Room hosted the celebration of the Aragonese Education Day, presided over by the counselor Tomasa Hernández. The event highlighted the role of education as a driving force for progress and presented awards to institutions, teachers, and students.
The Medal of Aragonese Education was awarded to the Society of Jesus for its educational work since the 16th century, emphasizing the College of Salvador as a reference for comprehensive education. Additionally, the San José de Calasanz Crosses were presented to nine figures, among them Miguel Ángel Álvarez Gonzalo for innovation in educational assessment, Dolores Serrat Moré for equity and pedagogical projects, Pilar Marión Buén for promoting French, and Luciano Sáez Rodríguez for his dedication to lifelong education. The academic excellence of 31 students in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training was also recognized with Extraordinary Awards.
The motto ‘Reading: sowing the future’ emphasized reading skills as the foundation of critical thinking, highlighting various educational projects such as ‘Reading Together’, ‘Poetry to Go’, ‘Insightful’, and ‘Journey with Letters’. During the event, 20 educational institutions were acknowledged for their achievements in innovation, including CEIP Valdespartera, which received the Consumópolis Award, and IES Miguel Servet, awarded the State Learning-Service Award.
The celebration included a dramatized reading of poetry by students from IES Miguel Catalán and the adult center ‘Casa del Canal’. The winning short film from IES Rodanas de Épila was also screened. The exhibition «We Read Images, We Contemplate Books» and performances by the choir from IES Miguel Servet added an artistic touch to the event, showcasing the diversity and cultural richness of the educational sector in Aragon.
