AREX, the entity responsible for promoting the internationalization of Aragonese wine, has launched two key initiatives to strengthen the presence of wineries in the region in the global market. These actions include a reverse mission for international buyers and a significant participation in the Wine Paris fair, aimed at establishing direct connections between local producers and international stakeholders.
Reverse Mission: International Buyers Discover Aragonese Wine
From February 4 to 6, AREX, in collaboration with ICEX Spain Export and Investments and Aragón Alimentos, organized a reverse mission that brought nine importers from countries such as China, South Korea, the United States, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Germany, Taiwan, and Brazil to explore the wine potential of Aragón. This visit took place after the Barcelona Wine Week fair, allowing the importers to experience firsthand the quality and diversity of Aragonese wines.
During their stay, the buyers visited four wineries belonging to the Denominations of Origin of Somontano, Calatayud, and Vinos de la Tierra de Aragón. Additionally, they participated in tastings, a masterclass on the wine-growing areas of Aragón, and enjoyed a program of paired dinners, which included visits to vineyards and cultural attractions in the region.
Wine Paris: An International Showcase for Aragonese Wine
AREX, together with Aragón Ecológico, has organized the participation of 16 Aragonese wineries at the Wine Paris fair under the brand «Wines from Aragón.» The dedicated space, measuring 170 square meters, offers individual areas for each winery and a common area with professional tastings and masterclasses led by Manu Jiménez, Best Sommelier of Spain 2017.
Attendees at Wine Paris will be able to explore two sections: one featuring 22 references of conventional wine from all the wine-growing regions of Aragón and another with 21 references of organic wine. The masterclasses will focus on Garnacha, varietal diversity, and Aragón’s leadership in organic viticulture.
Commitment to the Internationalization of Aragonese Wine
These initiatives reinforce AREX’s commitment to the internationalization of the Aragonese wine sector. By combining presence at strategic fairs with direct contact with importers, AREX aims to position the Aragonese territory as a distinctive competitive factor in the global wine market. These actions not only highlight the quality of Aragonese wine but also promote its diversity and potential on the international stage.
