Ibercaja Gestión will launch Ibercaja Geoestrategia on September 15, 2026, a global equity fund focused on the geopolitical, energy and technological transformations reshaping the world economy. The product will combine thematic ETFs, specialized funds and equities to pursue opportunities linked to long-term structural trends.
Ibercaja Geoestrategia seeks diversification amid geopolitical tensions
The new fund is being launched against a backdrop of international conflicts, trade tensions, fragmented supply chains and energy challenges. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 intensified questions over globalization and highlighted the impact of geopolitical conflicts on financial markets and the economy.
Increased volatility has prompted governments and companies to reassess their investment priorities. Energy independence, artificial intelligence, the protection of critical infrastructure, cybersecurity and access to strategic raw materials have emerged as important factors in this new environment.
Ibercaja Geoestrategia proposes a geographically diversified portfolio with exposure to companies aligned with these trends. The firm positions it as a complement to traditional portfolios, with assets designed to provide low correlation with other Ibercaja Gestión products, particularly during periods of geopolitical tension.
Defense, energy and critical raw materials: the three investment pillars
The fund’s strategy is structured around three areas. The first is defense and protectionism, focusing on rising defense budgets, public-private collaboration, cybersecurity innovation and the reindustrialization of developed economies.
The second pillar focuses on energy and strategic resources. The fund is based on growing energy demand and the risks that a lack of energy sovereignty poses to economic growth. In this context, it considers strategies combining conventional and clean energy sources, alongside efforts to improve energy efficiency.
The third area addresses rare earths and critical raw materials. Dependence on China for materials needed for new technologies, innovation and defense has led other countries to develop plans to secure supplies of these strategic resources.
The fund will be available to retail investors from 50 euros
Ibercaja Geoestrategia will offer a share class for retail investors, available from 50 euros, and another intended for inclusion in discretionary management portfolios. Its asset allocation will combine thematic ETFs, specialized funds and shares in companies with appreciation potential.
With this launch, Ibercaja Gestión is adding a global fund focused on the drivers of geostrategic transformation that, according to the firm, are gaining importance in the economy and international markets.
