Javier Rincón, Counsellor of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food for the Government of Aragón, recently chaired the first price session of the Lonja de Binéfar for 2026, assuming his role as honorary president. This key meeting brought together ranchers, slaughterhouses, and marketers to discuss the current situation of the sheep sector, marking an important start to the year.
Stability in Livestock Sector Prices
During the session, it was decided to maintain the prices from the previous week for male and female sheep of all weights, reflecting a context of stability at the beginning of the year. Rincón emphasized the importance of the Lonja de Binéfar as a key space for dialogue and transparency in the livestock sector. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Aragón to support the sector in decision-making and in defending its interests in various forums.
Reinforcement of Vaccination Against Contagious Nodular Dermatitis
Rincón announced the imminent arrival of over 30,000 doses of vaccines for preventive immunization in the areas of Boltaña, Jaca, and Sabiñánigo. This measure adds to the more than 80,000 vaccines previously administered in Tamarite de Litera, Graus, and Castejón de Sos, thus strengthening the health belt of the region. The Counsellor stressed that prevention and prompt responses are essential to avoid the spread of the disease, especially following the new outbreak detected in Alt Empordá (Gerona) in an extensive farm with around 106 animals.
