Black Truffle Showcase in Zaragoza from December 13 to 21

The 5th Black Truffle Show of Zaragoza presents itself as a key event for the promotion of Tuber melanosporum, combining territorial immersion activities with a main exhibition at the Mercado de Puerta Cinegia. Organized by the Association of Truffle Growers of the Zaragoza Regions (Truzarfa), in collaboration with the Aragonese Center for Agricultural Research and Technology (CITA) and the Zaragoza Provincial Council, this event aims to highlight the socioeconomic importance of black truffle in Aragon.

Activities in Belchite and Zuera: Territorial Immersion

On December 13 and 14, the municipalities of Belchite and Zuera will be the setting for territorial immersion activities. During these days, visitors will be able to enjoy fresh truffle markets and truffle-based products, as well as showcookings with tastings. These activities are designed to bring citizens closer to the origin and productive culture of black truffle, highlighting its relevance in the local economy.

Pedro Marco, a researcher at CITA, emphasizes the importance of ensuring that the added value generated by black truffle remains within the territory where it is produced instead of being exported. This approach seeks to strengthen the local economy and ensure that the benefits of truffle production remain in the region.

Main Exhibition at the Mercado de Puerta Cinegia

On December 20 and 21, the Mercado de Puerta Cinegia will host the main exhibition of black truffle, featuring a program that combines gastronomy, dissemination, and family activities. On Saturday the 20th, attendees will be able to visit the truffle market and truffle products, participate in family workshops to discover the secrets of truffle through a microscope, and enjoy showcookings and tastings paired with truffle-based tapas and craft beers.

On Sunday the 21st, the market will continue, along with family workshops and a tasting paired with truffle-based tapas and wine, organized in collaboration with Bodega Enate. These activities aim to provide a complete experience that combines learning and gastronomic enjoyment.

Aragon, Leader in Black Truffle Production

With 2,100 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of Tuber melanosporum, Aragon positions itself as the world’s leading producer of black truffle. Jesús López, president of Truzarfa, highlights that the campaign has started very well with high truffle production, much better than in previous years, although with very tight prices. This production not only reinforces the local economy but also positions Aragon as a reference in the agri-food sector.

The relocation of the Black Truffle Market to the Mercado de Puerta Cinegia is one of the novelties of this edition, aiming to bring this prized product even closer to the urban public. For more details about the activities, you can visit trufanegraaragon.com or follow the social media @truzarfa.
