Construction of Kitchens Completed in 10 School Cafeterias in Aragon

Completion of Kitchen Renovations in Ten School Canteens in Aragon

The Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports of the Government of Aragon, Tomasa Hernández, visited the CEIP Hispanidad in Zaragoza to oversee the completion of the renovation works for school canteens as part of the improvement plan initiated by the Department.

The total investment in the completed works has exceeded two million euros, benefiting nearly 1,500 students. In the new facilities, 260,340 meals will be prepared annually. In the specific case of CEIP Hispanidad, the investment has surpassed 255,000 euros, allocating nearly half to equipment and the other half to civil works, where more than 165 meals will be prepared daily.

The renovations have been completed at the following centers in the province of Zaragoza: CEIP Hispanidad, CEIP Los Albares (La Puebla de Alfindén), Guillermo Fatás, Marie Curie, Lucien Briet, CPI Parque Goya, Miguel Artazos (Utebo), Cervantes (Ejea de los Caballeros), and María Moliner. The kitchens have been equipped with state-of-the-art professional stainless steel equipment, including a 150-liter electric kettle, a combi oven cook master, a four-burner electric stove, an extractor hood with a fire prevention system, refrigerated cabinets, freezers, and service elements.

The plan includes the upcoming tender for the transformation of the kitchens at Catalina de Aragón (Parque Goya) and CEIP Galo Ponte (San Mateo de Gállego), with works scheduled for next summer. It also includes the centralized kitchen in Ensanche, Teruel, which will serve the centers Miguel Vallés and Pierres Vedel, with works planned for October and an investment of half a million euros.

Simultaneously, the Government of Aragon has enhanced the quality of the menus by increasing the budget for contracts by 10%, introducing menus supervised by dietitians with locally sourced and organic products, reducing fried and processed foods, and increasing the frequency of vegetables, greens, and fish.
