Tourism in Aragon Generated 4.107 Billion Euros in 2025

The tourism sector in Aragón reached an economic impact of 4.107 million euros in 2025, establishing itself as the fourth largest contributor to the region’s GDP, representing 10.7% of the total. This analysis was presented by the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Manuel Blasco, in collaboration with Jorge Moncada, General Director of Tourism and Hospitality, and María Jesús Gimeno, Manager of Tourism of Aragón.

Economic Impact and Job Creation

Tourism in Aragón not only significantly contributed to the GDP but also generated 67,500 jobs, both direct and indirect, positioning itself as the fourth largest employer in the region. The study, conducted by the General Directorate of Tourism and Hospitality of Aragón through the Aragón Tourism Intelligence System (SITAR), used the Tourism Satellite Account methodology to process over 360 million data points.

Direct tourism spending amounted to 2.416 million euros, complemented by an indirect impact of 967 million euros and an induced impact of 725 million euros. The sector demonstrated a multiplier effect of €1.70 for every euro of direct spending and a fiscal return of 677 million euros.

Origin and Characteristics of Tourism

During 2025, Aragón received 7.3 million visitors, of which the domestic market contributed 1.403 million euros with 6 million visitors and an average stay of 3.8 days. The main domestic visitors came from Madrid, Catalonia, the Basque Country, and the Valencian Community. Domestic tourism, that is, Aragonese traveling within Aragón, represented 32% of the total.

The international market generated 627 million euros with 1.3 million visitors and an average stay of 7.5 days. France stood out, accounting for 45% of international arrivals and showing higher profitability with an average spending per trip of 930 euros, compared to 91 euros per day for national tourism.

Challenges and Territorial Distribution

The report reveals that 62.9% of tourist accommodations are located in five regions: Sobrarbe, Ribagorza, Alto Gállego, Jacetania, and Zaragoza. However, areas with significant cultural and natural heritage, such as Teruel, have less accommodation capacity. By province, Huesca concentrates 57% of the accommodations, Zaragoza 25%, and Teruel 18%.

Among the main challenges identified are the redistribution of tourist flows, the de-seasonalization of demand, market diversification, and the growth of tourist housing, which increased by 111.5%. Additionally, the dependency on the French market is highlighted as a challenge to be addressed.
