CAF secures a contract worth over 150 million euros to supply 15 trains in Paris

Île-de-France Mobilités awards the Spanish company the supply of 15 train-tram units for the expansion of the T13 line in the Paris region. The contract also includes the possibility of incorporating new trains and spare parts for the fleet.

CAF has secured a new contract in France. Île-de-France Mobilités, the authority responsible for organizing public transportation in Paris and its region, has awarded the Spanish company an order valued at over 150 million euros for the supply of 15 train-tram units intended for the T13 line.

The agreement also includes the option to supply spare parts for the fleet and additional units, the company communicated to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) on Wednesday.

The new vehicles will be dedicated to the expansion of the T13 line, which will extend to the town of Achères. This line, inaugurated in 2022 and operated by RATP Cap Île-de-France, currently connects Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Saint-Cyr-l’École, serving various towns in the Yvelines department.

The expansion aims to reduce travel times and provide a frequency of ten minutes during peak hours, as well as improve connections with other transportation services in the Paris region, including the RER A, RER E, and Transilien L lines.

Trains with capacity for 256 passengers

The 15 units will be based on the CAF URBOS platform and will consist of seven articulated modules on five bogies. Each train will measure 42 meters in length and 2.65 meters in width.

The total capacity will be 256 passengers, with 86 seated and 170 standing. Seventy-five percent of the floor surface of the units will feature a low floor design to facilitate access and movement for individuals with reduced mobility.

The vehicles will also include climate control and dynamic information displays for passengers.

Manufacturing is planned at the CAF plant located in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, in the French region of Hautes-Pyrénées. The exterior design of the new trains will be adapted to the visual identity of Île-de-France Mobilités to integrate with the equipment currently operating on the line.

France, one of CAF’s main markets

The new contract strengthens CAF’s presence in the French rail market. Earlier this year, the company already received an order to supply ten regional trains from the Régiolis platform to SNCF Voyageurs, intended for the New Aquitaine region.

CAF currently has a significant industrial and commercial presence in France and participates in various segments of public transportation, from long-distance trains and suburban units to metros, trams, and zero-emission buses.

The award of the 15 new train-trams for Paris consolidates its position in one of the company’s main European markets and expands its portfolio of projects related to urban and rail mobility in France.
